Gforge @ uni.lu is a service offered to facilitate the scientific collaborations of people working at/with the University of Luxembourg. The server hosting the Gforge service is located on the Kirchberg campus (6, rue Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi, L-1359 Luxembourg).

Inspired by the InriaGforge, the general principle is to offer easy access through projects to subversion and git repositories, mailing lists, bug trackers, message boards/forums, task management, site hosting, permanent file archival, full backups, and total web-based administration. The major features are listed in the corresponding section.

The purpose of this site is to facilitate the use of Gforge @ uni.lu. Note: you may also refer to the official documentation of fusionforge (see chapter 4).

The first thing to understand is that projects hosted on the gforge could be either public or private. As the name clearly states, it is possible to access all the information of a public project in read-only mode for every user in the world through the web interface. On the over hand, the information publicly accessible for private projects is limited to their homepage. In particular, private projects are not listed on the Gforge @ uni.lu front page. Their code repositories are not accessible to anyone but their members. Access to their mailing lists requires explicit admin approval. In both case, write-access to projects are granted by the project admins to people having an account on the Gforge.
